The Swedish Group hosted a forum on “Sustainable Consumption” on the 29th of October, 2019 at the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo.
The topic of the forum revolved around one of the global goals of sustainable development "Responsible Consumption and Production" to become increasingly aware of the importance of changing the way we produce and consume products and resources.
The forum aimed to encourage practitioners in the field of architecture and interior design to incorporate sustainable interior design principles that will elongate building interior lifetime and minimize carbon footprint and ecological impact.
The objective of the forum was to highlight to the community of architects that culture contributes to development and that designers can reduce ecological impact. Swedish Group ensured to communicate this through presented sustainable concepts in interior architecture that can achieve sustainable development goals.
The forum was comprised of theme-specific presentations, individual meetings and small group meetings for discussions related to the subject “Sustainable Consumption” and was successful for attracting a larger number of attendees than initially anticipated. Notable architects and interior designers were present and networked during the forum.
The Swedish Group is indebted to the notable architectural consultant and president of The Society of Egyptian Architects Seif Allah Abou El-naga for participating with a presentation about the importance of knowing the material during the design phase of a project interior enabling designers to execute the project design. His participation illustrated the importance of the topic and was key in the success of the event.
The Swedish Group also wanted to express its sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Sweden for hosting the Sustainable Consumption forum and creating a space for this important dialogue.
